We’re Hussein and Joe,
the founders of Sandbox Tattoos.
We started Sandbox in 2021, when we were just 19 years old. We didn’t have much experience or a big team behind us — just a passion for tattoos and a dream to build something different in Ottawa. Opening a business that young wasn’t easy. We went through plenty of sleepless nights, financial stress, and moments where it felt like everything was working against us. But quitting was never an option.
From the very beginning, our goal was simple — to become the best tattoo studio locally, not just for the art, but for how we treat people. We wanted to create a place where clients feel comfortable, respected, and excited about their tattoos — no ego, no attitude, just genuine artists doing what they love.
Fast forward to today, and that little dream has grown into Ottawa’s biggest realism and fine line tattoo studio, with a team of 15+ international, award-winning artists from all around the world. Each artist brings their own story and style, but we all share the same mission: to make every tattoo personal and unforgettable.
We’ve learned a lot since those early days — about business, art, and people — and we’re proud that customer service remains at the heart of everything we do. We don’t just want you to get an amazing tattoo; we want you to leave knowing you were taken care of from start to finish.
We’ve overcome a lot of adversity to get here, and every challenge has shaped us into who we are today. Sandbox isn’t just a tattoo shop — it’s our story, our passion, and our way of giving back through art.
